The ZEMOS98 Festival bids us farewell with a night of music and poetry on Saturday, April 18th at the Teatro Alameda. The evening will feature the many voices of Niño de Elche and his band, who will debut their new album Voces del Extremo . Also, openers María Salgado & Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca will invite us to participate in their sonic research project, a «non-concert» called Hacía un Ruido . Tickets to our goodbye party are already on sale for 5€.

This will be the third time that Niño de Elche participates in the ZEMOS98 Festival. A Bulos.net project, his first appearance was during the domestic concerts of the 12th Festival, where he performed En este lugar cantó . Two years later, he presented Pincel contra pixel contra boca , in which he sang about the painter Francis Bacon, hypnotising us with suggestive questions looming over the sounds, rhythms and aromas of frying bacon. This year, he will treat audiences to a live performance of his upcoming album, Voces del Extremo , accompanied by a first-ever live performance by a band composed of the variety of musicians who collaborated on the recording.

Voces del Extremo («Voices of the Extreme»), which you will be able to hear over the coming weeks, includes lyrics by contemporary poets such as Antonio Orihuela, Begoña Abad, Jorge Riechman and Inma Luna. It was recorded by Raúl Pérez de La Mina and produced by Daniel Alonso of Pony Bravo, and features performances by Darío del Moral, Javier Mora, Raúl Cantizano, Daniel Alonso and Fer Junquera (aka Negro).

The 17th ZEMOS98 Festival will also become a participant in Hacía un ruido («It made a noise»), a changing, growing sonic investigation that is continuously made and remade over time. A heterogeneous work, no two performances are alike. It involves reading memory and reading paper. There will be processed reading and quite a few poems. And, above all, there will be sound.

This journey was started a year ago by «low-tech» poet María Salgado, whose published works include Ferias (2007), 31 poemas (2010) and Ready (Arrebato, 2012), and Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca, who has performed instrumental and electroacoustic music in various national and international festivals, in addition to composing and performing in various theatrical works including the experimental opera Todos Caníbales with the Nou Ensemble, which was also performed at the 14th ZEMOS98 Festival.

Both events will take place on April 18th at the Teatro Alameda, starting at 21:00. Tickets are on sale now for 5€ through GeneralTickets (here) as well as the ticket windows at the Lope de Vega Theatre. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance, since there are limited seats and the number of tickets available for purchase at the window will depend on the number of advance purchases.
